In the summer of 2023, Alina Baraz posted on her Instagram story asking designers to send her ideas for posters and t-shirts. She said she would personally go through them and pick her favorite to bring to life. I immediately jumped on the opportunity because Alina Baraz is one of my favorite artists.
The turnaround time was less than a week, so I spent nights designing various concepts to propose to her team. I created 12 different poster designs, 4 t-shirts, and several brand marks that could be used in other promotional materials.
I sent the email sharing links to all of the artwork created before her deadline of August 14th. A week or so went by and I hadn’t heard back, so I followed up to see if she had a chance to review any of my artwork—radio silence.
I’m unsure if Alina or anyone on her team saw the artwork. Even though I never received an email back, I loved having the opportunity to design artwork for one of my favorite artists. I am thrilled with how the pieces turned out. Working on something outside of typical client work helped me remember how much I truly enjoy being creative.
